By R.K. Hospital Health Desk•

Typhoid mein 104-105 bukhar aata hai, body toot jaati hai, aur kuch bhi khaane ka mann nahi karta. Lekin recovery ke liye sahi khaana bahut zaroori hai — kyunki typhoid ke bacteria (Salmonella) aapke intestine pe attack karte hain.

Galat khaana kha liya toh intestine aur kharab hogi. Sahi khaana khayenge toh jaldi theek honge.

Typhoid Mein Kya Khayein

1. Paani Aur Liquids (SABSE IMPORTANT)

Typhoid mein dehydration sabse bada khatra hai. Bukhar se paani body se bahut jaldi nikalta hai.

  • Paani — Ubla hua ya filter. Kam se kam 3-4 litre daily
  • ORS — Din mein 2-3 baar
  • Coconut water — Electrolytes ke liye best
  • Nimboo paani — Vitamin C + hydration
  • Fresh fruit juice — Apple, mosambi (strain karke)
  • Dal ka paani — Protein + hydration

2. Khichdi — Recovery Ka Raja

Moong dal khichdi typhoid mein sabse best food hai:

  • Easily digestible
  • Protein deti hai
  • Soft hai — intestine pe load nahi padta
  • Energy deti hai

Recipe: Moong dal + chawal + haldi + thoda namak + 1 spoon ghee. Soft pakayein.

3. Dalia (Broken Wheat Porridge)

Dalia bhi easily digest hota hai aur energy deta hai. Namkeen ya meetha — dono tarah bana sakte hain.

4. Boiled / Mashed Aalu

Potatoes energy dete hain aur soft hote hain. Boil karke thoda namak daalke khayein. Fry mat karein.

5. Banana

High energy, soft, easy to digest. Din mein 2-3 banana kha sakte hain.

6. Boiled Eggs (White Part)

Protein ke liye — sirf safed hissa. Yolk (peela hissa) avoid karein first week mein kyunki fat zyada hoti hai.

7. Curd / Dahi

Probiotics intestine ko heal karne mein madad karte hain. Fresh dahi daily lein.

8. Steamed / Boiled Sabziyan

  • Lauki (bottle gourd)
  • Kaddu (pumpkin)
  • Gajar (carrot) — boiled
  • Palak (spinach) — boiled, thoda

Typhoid Mein Kya NAHI Khayein

1. Spicy Food

Mirchi, garam masala, acchaar — yeh sab intestine ko aur irritate karenge. Halka khaana khayein.

2. Oily / Fried Food

Poori, pakode, samosa, chips — bilkul nahi. Tel intestine pe load daalta hai.

3. Raw Vegetables / Salad

Kachcha khaana mein bacteria ho sakte hain. Sab kuch pakka ke khayein.

4. Non-Veg (First 2 Weeks)

Mutton, chicken, fish — sab avoid first 2 weeks. Heavy protein digest karna mushkil hota hai jab intestine kamzor hai.

5. Milk (Full Cream)

Full cream doodh avoid karein. Toned milk ya dahi le sakte hain.

6. High Fiber Foods

Normally fiber accha hota hai, lekin typhoid mein raw fiber intestine pe load daalta hai:

  • Raw salad
  • Whole grains (zyada)
  • Beans (rajma, chole) — avoid first 2 weeks

7. Caffeinated Drinks

Chai, coffee — kam peeyein. Caffeine dehydration badhata hai.

  • Blood in stool — turant emergency jaayein

Typhoid Prevention Tips

  1. Hamesha ubla/filter paani piyen
  2. Bahar ka khaana avoid karein — especially road-side
  3. Haath dhoyein — khaana khaane se pehle, toilet ke baad
  4. Typhoid vaccine lagwayein — protection milta hai

Aksar Poochhe Jaane Wale Sawal

Q: Typhoid mein mutton kha sakte hain kya? Nahi, typhoid ke pehle 2 hafte mutton bilkul avoid karein, kyunki kamzor intestine ke liye heavy protein aur fat pachana mushkil hota hai. Recovery phase (week 3-4) mein pehle boiled chicken ya fish se shuru karein. Mutton jaisa heavy, masaledaar non-veg bukhar poori tarah utarne aur digestion normal hone ke baad hi, doctor se poochh kar lein.

Part of the fever, dengue and when to seek urgent assessment guide

From this question to a practical consultation

Use this guide to prepare the history for a discussion about fever, dengue and when to seek urgent assessment. Record when the concern began, what has changed and how it affects daily activities. Bring reports and prescriptions already available; you can ask which further tests would help before arranging more investigations.

At the visit, ask what the clinician thinks is most likely and which findings support that view. If the diagnosis remains uncertain, ask how it will be clarified and which changes should prompt earlier assessment. A clear next step is more useful than collecting several possible labels from online searches.

Before leaving, confirm the purpose of each prescribed treatment, the follow-up date and who will communicate results. Keep that plan with your symptom record so a review can compare progress. Tell the clinician if the plan is difficult to follow because of work, costs, side effects or care responsibilities.

The care pathway: Fever, dengue and when to seek urgent assessment
  1. 1

Record day of illness and symptoms

  2. 2

    Assess hydration and warning signs

  3. 3

    Order time-appropriate tests if needed

  4. 4

    Review recovery or escalate promptly

The sequence explains planned care. Urgent symptoms require prompt assessment and may change this pathway.

The assessment before a treatment decision

Testing is chosen according to the suspected cause and timing. A negative or positive test needs interpretation in the context of symptoms and the day of illness. Ask whether repeat assessment is needed if the illness changes.

Medical guidance: WHO: Dengue and severe dengue

How can I prepare for an assessment of these symptoms?

Bring a symptom timeline, relevant reports, current prescriptions and your main questions. Ask how the diagnosis will be assessed, whether further tests are needed, what follow-up is planned and which changes require earlier care.
