A Liver Function Test (LFT) is a group of blood tests that measure enzymes, proteins, and substances produced by the liver. It helps assess liver health and detect liver diseases like hepatitis, fatty liver, and cirrhosis.
LFT includes parameters such as SGOT (AST), SGPT (ALT), alkaline phosphatase, total and direct bilirubin, total protein, albumin, and globulin. It is commonly ordered before surgeries, for patients on certain medications, and as part of routine health check-ups.
